Some golfers may suggest that if your bottom hand is getting chafed, you’re gripping the club too tight. Well, success in golf has a lot to do with technique, but constant rubbing on your fingers doesn’t necessarily mean you’re doing something wrong. Actually, the general convention is that if you play enough, your bottom hand will eventually callus. Rubbing is inevitable – after all, you’re swinging a club over and over again! So, chafing is normal and expected and will cause irritation in some players more than others.
Still want to know if you’re gripping the club too tight? Well, maybe. Then again, maybe not. Just know that some of the world’s top golfers wear adhesive tape on their off hand. But please don’t tell them they’re gripping the club too tight.
